I have since told that old friend that he has stayed in my life this long (going on 13 years) so that he could introduce me to his wife and she would become my new best friend. Yes, I met the women in July then drove 9 hours again two months later just to see her and spend a weekend crafting. My 2 nights turned into 4/5 and we had a great time!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/p206x206/527563_10100847035296442_374875259_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/p206x206/527563_10100847035296442_374875259_n.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the way down I had to cross many bridges but this one scared the Bee Jeezee's out of me! It had only center supports and was very pretty. I drove really slowly to get a picture of this from my drivers seat on the way back. No drunk driving, just photo taking!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/576883_10100847035166702_243515893_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/576883_10100847035166702_243515893_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Miss Ashley. My new bestie. She was teaching a couponing class on base while I was there and took the course. I learned a lot.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/155627_10100847034877282_1071667401_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/155627_10100847034877282_1071667401_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She taught me how to do this. We did this in one day while there. All this cost her something like $17 but got $21 in coupons so she made $4 in couponing talk for all of this. Can you believe that?! Before you think poorly or judge why she needs 54 deodorants know that she will be sending all of this over seas with her husband and his unit when he deploys in a few months. She donates to her military family and its hard no to support her efforts when you know that!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/525112_10100847034972092_1544560113_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/525112_10100847034972092_1544560113_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We also did some amazing site see while there. We stumbled upon Fort Muncy which had an amazing history dating back to the 1700 Or 1600. I can't remember.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/299300_10100847035071892_1877236040_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/299300_10100847035071892_1877236040_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ash and I decided we needed to find an abandoned fort and turn it into a B&B because it would be cool. You know, with those few millions we have laying around we thought it would be easy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/563925_10100847035146742_1219615009_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/563925_10100847035146742_1219615009_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Of course the guys would have to do the yard work with grounds like these. Oh, yeah that's the ocean in the back ground!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/66327_10100847035496042_134169958_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/66327_10100847035496042_134169958_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As part of our shopping I picked up this reusable cup. I take this on all of my subbing days. It appeals to my green (stop throwing everything away) side and my support my college roommate who has breast cancer side. It says " Fight like a Girl" in the breast cancer pink. I thought it was more school appropriate then "Save the TaTas" even though that was an option.</div>

I have eventually caught up with bee blocks. Got more then a few quilt tops finished and am wrapping up my fourth quilt since my summer has begun. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/227583_10100847034612812_359804185_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/227583_10100847034612812_359804185_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is baby Eli's quilt. Eli is due soon to one of my oldest friends. He is actually a few days younger then me, but we have been friends since before I can remember. The squares were actully left over from a quilt top that I made my FIL. it was just enough to be a perfect baby size. I embroidered "Eli" in hunter green on one corner. Its backing is a green with a yellow boarder. The new parents LOVED it and said it was a perfect match to the nursery.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/545545_10100847036219592_1096157486_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/545545_10100847036219592_1096157486_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This quilt top has been hanging on my design board all summer and in front of the window too! The majority of the larger squares were done from a bee. Then I added some to round it out. Its very summery. I don't love it and don't need it. I have the batting and backing picked out and think it might be my first item in my future etsy shop. We'll see.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/p206x206/404653_10100847037941142_1268992081_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/p206x206/404653_10100847037941142_1268992081_n.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a primary color block quilt that I am wrapping up as we speak. The binding is about 1/4 of the way on. I hand stiched a half inch into each block. The fabric was a "Bee's Knees" line that I got in California 3 years ago. My local quilt shop keeps pulling out the flower prints (not shown here) and I keep grabbing it. Luckly what they keep finding and clearncing was enough for the quilt back, binding, and a little something else if this quilt ends up having an actual purpose. I love it too much to let it go for now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/397263_10100847037871282_185310346_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/397263_10100847037871282_185310346_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are 3 of my new 5 pillows I made. The grey looking front pillow is actually a wool suit material that looks browner in person. It has an envelope back and will have a short life span until I can make a Christmas themed pillow. The floral print was Pier One inspired. it has hand embrodeired details on it in glitter thread that apprently doesn't photograph. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="213" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/423892_10100466995818602_266028802_n.jpg" width="320" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These the floral pillows made it to the living room this summer after spending all winter in a cabinet and not on my masterbed. So the new floral pillow is suppose to be a fall version of those three.</div>

Maybe some will be long, maybe not. Here goes!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/545562_10100847040041932_701081992_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/545562_10100847040041932_701081992_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is our last camping trip. Hubbs is here stoking the fire for dinner. We have the new to us Coleman pop on the right with its awning folded out. The white tent directly behind him was something we bought after having tarp envy of other camp sites. The orange and black lights were a new addition this last outing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/304485_10100847040016982_1789564407_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/304485_10100847040016982_1789564407_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can see the camper is pretty good size. It also came with the "rug" that is very visible here. Its about the size of the white tent, but we put it off to the side because of the picnic table.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/420460_10100847040096822_1037469593_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/420460_10100847040096822_1037469593_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is part of the lake we were camping on. It was a CCC lake (we think) with a very tiny dam. It was actually a great spot.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/385072_10100847040146722_1073002320_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/385072_10100847040146722_1073002320_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is what it looked like when we went at the end of September. It was amazing. It looked nothing like this 30 miles south were we live. The rows of green evergreens were replanted some time after the lake was completed. We know this because they were all in a straight lines around the lake. Thus, the give away that it was a CCC project. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Edited to add...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/581339_10100799872081902_612496374_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/581339_10100799872081902_612496374_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Our first set up with the new camper. We also borrow friend Kayaks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/383185_10100799872111842_654116031_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/383185_10100799872111842_654116031_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/200501_10100799872166732_328383387_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/200501_10100799872166732_328383387_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes, we have hanging lights. It gives off plenty of light at night. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/253183_10100799872206652_1696782434_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/253183_10100799872206652_1696782434_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Inside the camper. It actually has most of the curtains down in this picture. I plan of re doing all the blue curtains to a different color by next season. Maybe a black or stripe. In the picture is the "Kitchen" and dinning table.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/561642_10100799872246572_99103285_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/561642_10100799872246572_99103285_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is SIL and I at the half way point of one of the mountains around the park. It was the only vista view the whole hike. I complained a lot on this one. I like my hikes to be prettier then just trees. Mia goes on all our hikes with us and loves them. Water is still her favorite part.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We have more pictures somewhere, but apparently not on my phone. We did however love camping all summer.</div>

I'm not going to name times or anything... but it was a good hour plus before I have been naturally rolling out of bed. It was a lovely morning after the tornado rout storm last night and it was cooler then most mornings lately. I sat out side and reviewed a magazine that was a year or so old. Then decided I wanted to be productive... and productive was going to require Star.bucks. So I got up and started driving. Made it to the corner of my street when I saw a moving sign. Which I of course promptly followed to the next street over.<br />
<br />
"Tons of cars" I thought, "this must be good!"<br />
<br />
As I walked up the product lined side walk I noticed elderly people poking through copper pans and cake molds. Lots of folding tables, cassette tapes, and VHS. Then I noticed a lovely yellow cart. I had seen similar carts popping up on design shows and magazines. I looked around for a price. I saw a tag and thought ...<br />
<br />
"Nope, must be for the box of tapes above, or maybe each tape individual, but not the cart! Surely not the cart".<br />
<br />
I went inside to look around and realized the "more inside" meant a few pieces of furniture and some napkins. I went back out side and checked the cart.<br />
<br />
"Maybe that is the price?"<br />
<br />
Well I need to walk away. I have no real need for this lovely, slightly scuffed, retro yellow cart. So I went and got my coffee. While I waited I googled retro carts. Couldn't come up with much that wasn't brass or glass. I figured, if I have enough money in my car and purse I'll go buy it. So I swung back by, saw the beauty and handed over the loot. IT WAS MINE....<br />
<br />
Went home and did some research. I know I got a pretty good deal... but how good?<br />
<br />

But without the hand in the top right. Now, after looking for more high priced carts I realized other people have walked away with deals like mine but I still feel proud of my self. I usually see deal like today's only before I realize how great they are.... So I don't feel bad for my cart deal of the day when I say I paid...<br />

No real reason these pictures all go together except they were all on my phone.<br />

Flowers from my yard. I didn't plant these. They are all left from the previous owner. They are located on either side of my garage. They are two kinds of lilies and a hydrangea.</div>

I made 4 quart jars of dill pickles about two weeks ago. They need to sit for 4-6 weeks for best flavor. We'll see how good we do. I know we didn't pack enough slices in there, but live and learn!</div>

This is the cucumber plan that all but one of those picking cucumbers came from. We dug up one of the clothes line post (first tiny tree on left) but didn't feel like attacking this one this year. Maybe next. It made since to plant vining plants here. We had peas in the right originally. This plant is about spent but the 3 vines in the garden are just now taking off, even though they were planted at the same time.</div>

I dyed my hair back to the "natural" color. I had a few inches of natural that they attempted to match it too. I told them not to tell me what color it was and to just do it. I would really like to not dye my hair, but I always go lighter or red and it eventually needs touched up.</div>

Some friends of ours was traveling for the rest of summer and we volunteered to clean the pool for them! Ha we took advantage on the hottest day this week and went for a swim. That is Hubs with Mia. Mia LOVES water and was a great swimmer once we pushed her in. We knew she would be fine since we took her camping to a lake with us about 2 months ago. We even ordered her a doggy life jacket so she doesn't get so tired.</div>

This is what the pergola looked like at the beginning of the week. I have since weeded all the creepy crawly weeds from hell around the edge. The vines on the left side were there last year and have since found cracks in the foundation to start a second area. Yes, that middle post is 2 maybe 3 vines and their off shoots. That whole side is a bench, that I would like to put some pillows on eventually, but I still have more cleaning to do before that can happen. The plans are to rough up the wood next year and stain it with a nice out door deck stain in a rich red or brown color. I think I'm going to try to talk Hubs into staining the concrete as well. This area needs to be a "destination" in our yard so I want it to be important! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the back right hand side of the yard I killed off a bunch of straggly grass and used stones from around the yard to create a boarder. It was just recently mulched. It is a funny shape, but I wanted there to be a "hide out" behind the tree just in case I wanted to do something fun there. It is completely in the shade all most all day due to the neighbors trees. Hopefully I'll get a bird bath in there next to the tree soon. Oh, and plants....</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is quite the work in progress that makes our yard one step away from ghetto redneck. Although it doesn't look TOO BAD here... this area is actually pretty cluttered. I spent yesterday ripping out dead plants our of planters and moving them around. so they were less of a problem. This "patio" was expanded using pavers from the other side of the stair case. The patio was awkward on that side since the cement path didn't go that way. You can see in this before that there was a flower bed here originally, but the dogs had that trampled in a few days. We don't have enough of the pavers to complete the whole section and come to find out they are no longer made. I'm not sure we would have started this project if we had known that. We could still order them but we would have to get close to 1000 at like $1 a pop. NO thank you! My plan was to put the patio chairs and umbrella on the new patio, but the large new birthday grill takes up most of the space. This is an area that has lots of projects to come!</div>CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-21693939940318166892012-07-23T09:55:00.000-05:002012-07-23T09:55:00.377-05:00Once Upon a TimeOnce upon a time a couple people moved into a new house. Their third new house in 3 years. They had looked high and low for a house that would suit them and Hubs sister. Although two master suits would have been nice in the long run we were lucky to find a house with one and room to experiment. This is a story about that experiment. <br />
<br />
What started out as the "work shop", as it is labeled in on our house map that the previous owners left, has recently gone under a transformation. Previously it was a corner of the basement located under the kitchen. SIL lives in the basement. We thought this would be better then giving her a tiny room across the hall from us. So far it has worked out amazingly. But this corner of her floor was a typical cleaned up basement. It is where the original cabinets of the house had lived for some time. It also housed the water heater, water storage for the baseboard heating, and various other things along those lines. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/312398_10100214270437292_3914180_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/312398_10100214270437292_3914180_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
When coming down the stairs the door on the right is one of two entries into the "work shop" and the soon to be door into the new bathroom. the room runs the length of that white wall (between the brick pillars). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/310484_10100214270512142_577830_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/310484_10100214270512142_577830_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This is the other corner of the basement is is a 90 degree right turn from the previous picture. The pillar in the right hand side of the top picture is the same pillar on the left side in this picture. These double closet doors lead to the same room. We kept these here since you would need a large door access to the guts of the house if they need replaced down the road. This is also where SIL keeps her bed and has PLENTY of room to spare not to mention the whole rest of the room. <br />
<br />
The bathroom isn't finished but to to compare some before and after pictures. I had pictures of the frame process, but they were lost along with my phone mid summer. Hopefully these picture make since even though you can't see everything!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/308280_10100214270562042_2068025_a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/308280_10100214270562042_2068025_a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This is those double doors again. From this point of view the inside has not changed too much. Those base counters have been flipped around to face the wall they are currently on. We wanted to keep an area for utility work (clean paint brushes etc) and we also couldn't come up with a reason why would take up the entire corner, work around the heating/water and still have a functional bathroom that made since.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/294474_10100214270606952_1013457_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/294474_10100214270606952_1013457_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Before</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
After 1</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/396933_10100737595519632_870541563_a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/396933_10100737595519632_870541563_a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After 2</div>
<br />
The alcove in the after 2 is the area under the stairs in the before. The wall is directly next to it, wasting no space and has about a foot and a half mini wall making up the door way. That is a 60 inch shower surround in the after. It has the shower head coming out of the ceiling with the control knobs to the right of the surround. It is basically directly in line with with window in the before picture. The room does not go back the length of the room. We needed to get to the fuse box and plumbing in the far back corner of the before picture. If you look closely in the after 2 to the top right hand corner you can see a piece of wood hanging from the ceiling. This is a place holder for a sliding "barn door" that will section off the water closet part of the bathroom when needed.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/310610_10100214270661842_3309564_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/310610_10100214270661842_3309564_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I could not get an interesting picture at this angle if I tried at this point. I would need to stand in the shower and all you would see is a green wall and possibly a toilet. The toilet is located in the bottom right corner of this picture. Left of the door (the two toned wall) is now a closet that is waiting for doors. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/311618_10100214270711742_7499441_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/311618_10100214270711742_7499441_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This picture is now also impossible. I would have to stand in the shower, look through a wall, see a vanity area, and look through another wall. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/549035_10100737595574522_1068698130_a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/549035_10100737595574522_1068698130_a.jpg" /></a></div>
Not the same angle as the one above, but the right light is directly in front of the chimney and the open space for the mirror is the water tank area. The wood boards will be "floating shelves" just as soon as they are finished drying from being stained. This area is directly across from the opening to the water closet.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/320141_10100214270836492_8219225_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/320141_10100214270836492_8219225_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you could see though walls from this point you would be able to see majority of the bathroom. You could see all of the vanity, the shower (blocking the window)), toilet (under the white cabinet), and the alcove under the stairs. You would only be missing the new closet directly across from the alcove.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/545472_10100737595599472_1353809461_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/545472_10100737595599472_1353809461_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
There are no before pictures of this angle because I never would have thought it was needed. The opening on the right will be a closet with many "french doors" that are being converted from a set of bi folds. this is the space between the hot water heater and the wall that apparently I have no pictures of. <br />
<br />
Think of the entire bathroom as a large I. The bottom left is the alcove under the stairs that will get shelves eventually. The top left is the water closet that closes off with a barn door. The top right is a vanity with floating shelves and wall lighting. Concluding with the bottom right closet.<br />
<br />
The tile, obviously, is what we used through out the house in all the revamps. Hope this give you a better understanding of the new lay out and how far it has come. Now, to go work on it more!<br />

We are down to 3 things left. Caulk around surfaces/windows, putting a trim around one very old original door, and framing out a set of shelves. I know that sounds like a lot to be calling the remodel "finished" but seeing how it took so long to get to this point... I'll take it!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The corner cabinet is at an angle were before there was just unused space. The dish washer moved to the other side of the sink (red and green lights). The "appliance garage" houses the toaster and waffle maker. The original plug in stayed there which is a perfect location! New sink, garbage disposal, and faucet. The cabinet to the left of the corner is a double pull out trashcan. Hubs made the window sill and trim. Its extra deep for holding things (i.e. flowers!) The cabinet on the far right was also made by Hubs. It is the cabinet that needs trim. The company that we ordered from couldn't made a shelving unit the size we needed in the high that we needed so we ordered stain and made one our self. The extra trim will made it look finished. It appears dark in this picture, but it was about 5 in the afternoon during a thunder storm. It is actually very warm and cozy.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think this side shows the biggest change. We couldn't move the location of the fridge which out designer tried and tried. but it works where it is and really isn't all that odd of a place. According to house snooping around open houses that should be where the original pantry was located. To the right of the original stove was a section of 12 inch deep counter that was in front of a chimney running the high of the house. We couldn't move this nor did we want to try. We put a floor to ceiling pantry infront of the chimney as wide as we good and then did a faux panel on the left side to cover the brick/wood/plaster combo. Although a pantry that deep would be amazing, having a shallow one keeps my food in check! We opted to get rid of the double oven since 1) they didn't work as a pair and 2) they were in the way! Instead we went with a glass top slide in. this actually give us crazy amounts of counter. Each side is 15 inches wide and 24 inches deep. We made the counters match the pantry depth. The back splash was clearance tile that really gives the room a pop of modern. The overhead microwave/vent is nice but so far it has cooked smores and melted butter for corn the most!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The tile is the same pattern that is in the guest bath up stairs, the laundry room, the new basement bath, and eventually the master bath.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
After</div>
<br />
Here is a shot of the dinning room on move in day along with the new dinning room. First I would like to mention that even though you cant see it the paneling was all taken completely down through out the dinning room and kitchen. Also the random cabinet between the two door ways was the first to go. We did entertain the idea of doing a peninsula or something there, but agreed that it was too close the the doors on the right and would be awkward to get to the dinning room later. We attempted to do wainscoting in this room but the trim color that matched the cabinets was entirely too dark for this project. We went with the palm green from the kitchen and the bungalow gold from the first floor. It figures, that when I look for the original example to prove I'm not crazy, I can't find it!<br />
<br />
Well that is the Kitchen remodel basically. I'll post about the new amazing bath soon!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/389341_10100576629526772_17106738_47516228_1587716187_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/389341_10100576629526772_17106738_47516228_1587716187_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That is my mom (holding my first quilt) and my dad. That use to be my grandmothers house that you can see through. She is fine, for the record, but this post is really just for her!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Grandma, I'm going to make you a new BED SIZE quilt for your new place! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">But, I bet you already knew that if you are reading this because I sent you here to think about fabric choices!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have no bed to put a quilt on. Actually I don't have one of my quilts, they are on other peoples beds and baby dolls. But, I can make one for my grandma! There is a new place in her future and will need a new bedspread.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now, I know you'll (grandma) would like anything that I make, but I would like you to really enjoy it too! So I have picked a few fabric lines that I could turn into a quilt just as soon as you say GO! Check them out and think what you would like! Dark "grown up" colors? Springy always fresh colors? Primary? Anything with flowers? All solid and modern? Let me know!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/CaliforniaGirl-bundle-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/CaliforniaGirl-bundle-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">California Girl: I think the pinks could be amazing! I also think we could include the blues and greens to add interest. I would think this would fall into the "Always spring" category!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Other "Always spring":</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/Promenade-bundle-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/Promenade-bundle-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Promenade has a few versions and could easily be made into a very large quilt!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/SewCherry-bundle-200.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/SewCherry-bundle-200.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Sew Cherry: Very bright and fresh but might be a little much?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/CattailsClover-bundle-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/CattailsClover-bundle-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
Cattails & Clover: Now, not my style, I would say this falls into my "grown up" category. If you like the earth tones we could find something a little less Cattail, but you get the idea.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">More "Grown Ups"</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/BellaBliss-rouge-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/BellaBliss-rouge-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">There is also a blue and maybe a green colorway if you don't want ti to stay so rosy</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/Papillon-petite-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/Papillon-petite-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Seems very pretty and could be made dark with more of the red and grey or light with the pinks and blue.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/Cabbages&Roses-bundle-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/Cabbages&Roses-bundle-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Northcote Range: Maybe a mono-tone would be better? I keep leaning towards pinks. Do you want a pink quilt? Of course we could use all three color ways and must mix things up!<br />
<div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Fun Mono-tones</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/Avalon-historia-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/Avalon-historia-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Historia Avalon: Just one of MANY blues if you like this one we could add other blue colorways or keep it to one line.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/MeetMeAtSunset-bundle-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/MeetMeAtSunset-bundle-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Meet Me at Sunset: There is also a "yellow" and "orange" version. This is the pink. They would all go very well together or as separates.</div><div align="center"></div><br />
And then a few that just look really neat!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/Chesapeake-bundle-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/Chesapeake-bundle-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Reminds me of your house. Maybe its the blue? Who knows</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/GypsyCaravan-merlot-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/GypsyCaravan-merlot-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Fun, bright and bold. Might be too much but it seemed "grown up"</div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/WildflowersCollection-tulip-200.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/WildflowersCollection-tulip-200.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Sweet and vintage looking. Also comes in a pink and blue/green colorway to mix in match if you like.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/TheSweetestThing-bundle-200.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/images/images_499/TheSweetestThing-bundle-200.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">OK, a little too bright, but fun!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Alright, that was just a few of the MANY that you could pick from. <a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/Fat-Quarter-Bundles.asp?Store_id=499&Page_Id=15&sid=29354172256452935">http://www.fatquartershop.com/Fat-Quarter-Bundles.asp?Store_id=499&Page_Id=15&sid=29354172256452935</a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That is a link that can take you to a online fabric shop that has all the "collections" of fabric. Of course you don't have to pick out anything specific. You could pick a color, or set of colors if a whole collection doesn't suit you! Take your time, I realize this is not really a priority.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Friendly reminder, this is what that side looked like when we moved in<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/426830_10100466998927372_17106738_47048224_1813178573_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/426830_10100466998927372_17106738_47048224_1813178573_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Stove top with no counter space, double oven with the bottom half only working part time, 10 inch deep counter that was worthless, and tiny fridge.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/578328_10100566264164042_17106738_47470377_1354732394_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/578328_10100566264164042_17106738_47470377_1354732394_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>This is what it looks like today. A 15 inch cabinet (with counter to come) a fancy stove that will be here in two weeks is keeping its place with the old stove (girl has to cook) and then another 15 inch cabinet! That's a lot of counter space if you don't want to do the math, which I don't. Then there is the 90" tall pantry that is 12" deep and 24" wide. It is so tiny and holds SO MUCH FOOD! Its great. Then the cabinet over the fridge. We'll be getting a new black fridge in about a month and this one will holds it's place.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/547981_10100566264488392_17106738_47470383_1668254397_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/547981_10100566264488392_17106738_47470383_1668254397_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>Pantry goodness just for honesty sake. If you want to really snoop you can tell I have a half a shelf of Cream of Chicken and like 8 boxes of banana nut bread mix. Holiday baking and cooking leftovers I guess.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/577893_10100566264318732_17106738_47470380_1960071588_a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/577893_10100566264318732_17106738_47470380_1960071588_a.jpg" /></a></div>and a picture of the new light just for fun. It isn't as bright as we wanted it to be. However, when it is actually dark outside it gives off plenty of light. <br />
<br />
Well, Grandma hopefully that gives you a good understanding of my kitchen at this point in time ;)CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-25562950145915040292012-04-04T21:05:00.000-05:002012-04-04T21:05:03.140-05:00KitchenWell its been a bit since I posted. Everything and nothing has happened since then. But I'm only posting really for my grandma. She needs updates on the kitchen and I can't message them to her...<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/383480_10100557884516922_17106738_47424329_1497495170_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/383480_10100557884516922_17106738_47424329_1497495170_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So here we go....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is the main side. The corner cabinet was wasted space before and the dish washer moved to the other side of the sink. The lazy suzanne alone holds more then the cabinets there were there previously. The green is "palm" is is pretty true to color here. The windows don't have any of their trim. We'll be making copies of the ones in the house, but stained the color of the cabinets. The flooring will be the same as the ups stairs bathroom.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/431318_10100466998832562_17106738_47048221_1094789023_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/431318_10100466998832562_17106738_47048221_1094789023_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/426830_10100466998927372_17106738_47048224_1813178573_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/426830_10100466998927372_17106738_47048224_1813178573_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div> I have already forgotten what this kitchen looked like! Although the new kitchen will be darker and cozy... its the way we like our kitchens! I also use the term "cozy" lightly as are kitchen is just actually about a foot too small to put in an island so really it is awkwardly large.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/423957_10100466999256712_17106738_47048230_771797376_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/423957_10100466999256712_17106738_47048230_771797376_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>A part visual of the plans. We have actually changed a little bit from this image, but only small details that wouldn't be worth pointing out.<br />
<br />

I will probably keep it up just to update some people too far way to talk to in person It has been almost 2 months since I posted last. This is far too long. I dont' care to over share here, its not my Diary. I haven't sewn enough for this to be a big deal. We'll see how it goes.CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-39710977733845127062011-11-16T16:31:00.000-06:002011-11-16T16:31:25.710-06:00Birthday GiftI get to see my dad this year right before his birthday. This gave me to chance to do a pinterest inspired project that I stashed away.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">OK, so I would LOVE to do this to a pair of my jeans but the muffin top that would ensue after trying to squeeze into a pair of jeans that would fit like that... well just not worth the time and diet!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://media-cdn.pinterest.com/upload/192458584045501198_OeaeODSH_c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cdn.pinterest.com/upload/192458584045501198_OeaeODSH_c.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />
My Grandpa, Dad, Brother, Husband, and I all went to Oklahoma State. Since Hubbs doesn't wear ties... ever. I modified the inspiration to fit my dad. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So I made this...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/313062_10100299544696992_17106738_46413152_2042182627_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="292" src="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/313062_10100299544696992_17106738_46413152_2042182627_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Instead of pockets</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UnV9quhZk7g/TsQ4RY8WRSI/AAAAAAAAA3Q/i5BrYTw3gmE/s1600/IMAG0438.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UnV9quhZk7g/TsQ4RY8WRSI/AAAAAAAAA3Q/i5BrYTw3gmE/s320/IMAG0438.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It look modern for needle work and school colors. I am loving it! Now I'm trying to figure out where else I can stitch!</div><br />

</div>CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-85348382377849415882011-11-11T12:04:00.000-06:002011-11-11T12:04:09.262-06:0011-11-11I made a wish at 11:11 am on 11-11-11.<br />
<br />
I wished for a Happy and Healthy life with great friends and family by my side.<br />
<br />
I thought about wishing for a baby. But that seemed selfish and a little closed minded.<br />
<br />
I mean, this was the biggest make believe wish day every. So aim high right? <br />
<br />
Maybe tonight at 11:11 pm I should wish upon a star while blowing out some birthday candles. <br />
<br />
Can't go letting such a magical day go to waste!CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-71758632473998724122011-11-06T19:39:00.000-06:002011-11-06T19:39:48.792-06:00House updatesWe have got the Laundry room 99% finished I would say. It was the next project after the bathroom since it a) still had wall paper b)needed color c) had no real floor.<br />
<br />
In an attempt to hook up our gas drier the first night, we realized our laundry room was electric. So we tore up the floor hoping there would be an easy access to the gas line or the basement. Long story short we had plywood floors in there for the last two months or so. But they are all finished now a long with new paint and pinterest inspired woodwork!<br />
<br />
Here you can see where the laundry room half bath is located. It is originally in the "mudroom" of our house. That right tan cabinet would have been about where a door to the original porch was. I only know this because all the other houses in our neighbor hood have their door there.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/317458_10100214269868432_17106738_45780047_3359185_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/317458_10100214269868432_17106738_45780047_3359185_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day one of our laundry room. It has an "ABC 123" kind of paper boarder at the top, oak cabinets, and blue and white linoleum flooring.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/309845_10100214270013142_17106738_45780052_1824001_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/309845_10100214270013142_17106738_45780052_1824001_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">In an attempt to run gas lines we moved a cabinet, removed drywall, and scrapped up the floor. Would have just needed to remove the drywall. Oh well. It stayed like this until mid October.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/308078_10100214261110982_17106738_45779888_5873314_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/308078_10100214261110982_17106738_45779888_5873314_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My machine stand inspiration came from this picture. I didn't need it to be black but it gave Hubbs an idea how to get the laundry off the floor. We didn't spring for the drawers that match since money was tight enough when we bought our machines.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://d30opm7hsgivgh.cloudfront.net/upload/236968174_RRMqFV2Q_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://d30opm7hsgivgh.cloudfront.net/upload/236968174_RRMqFV2Q_b.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A sneak peek through the door. These windows actually have two cafe curtains on them for privacy for the half bath, but I figured this was a cuter picture!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/310297_10100284739861002_17106738_46340788_108734629_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/310297_10100284739861002_17106738_46340788_108734629_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The stands that Hubbs built! It was measure to fit from wall to cabinet, but we got rid of the cabinet on the right. The basics were from work and hold our dirty laundry for sorting. Waiting for laundry to pile up in the shoot and then try to sort was not working in that little room.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/381030_10100284740005712_17106738_46340792_1551029698_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/381030_10100284740005712_17106738_46340792_1551029698_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Hubbs also built a spacer in between the machines. It holds two baskets for hangers and dirty rags. My soap also sits here since I can't reach the cabinets anymore!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/307865_10100284740125472_17106738_46340795_1318661896_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/307865_10100284740125472_17106738_46340795_1318661896_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We painted the room Bungalow Gold that we had left over from the living/tv/hall project. The cabinets stayed oak, for now. I might be changing them to white if it bugs me enough! The curtain will go some time too I hope, but for now its enough privacy to keep people on the porch from looking.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://hphotos-iad1.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/375981_10100284740439842_17106738_46340802_840432120_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://hphotos-iad1.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/375981_10100284740439842_17106738_46340802_840432120_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The half that makes this room a "half bath" The cabinet will go white if the other shelves do too.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/319120_10100284740285152_17106738_46340797_186414209_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/319120_10100284740285152_17106738_46340797_186414209_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Well that is the 1/2 bath make over for now. I think I'll be hanging a sign in it that says "Water Closet" just because it would be cute!</div>CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-7684568471059285902011-10-17T21:48:00.000-05:002011-10-17T21:48:15.211-05:00For GrandmaWe wrapped up our bathroom remodel some time last week I think. I have some pictures for ya'll.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/298408_10100214269833502_17106738_45780046_6100655_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/298408_10100214269833502_17106738_45780046_6100655_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is what we started with. Burgundy carpet, "Sponge painted" bottom paper, tiny red flowers on the top, and a leafy boarder to split them. Its actually a really decent size bathroom compared to what we have had in the previous two houses.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://hphotos-iad1.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/308651_10100252337300992_17106738_46074335_940414116_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://hphotos-iad1.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/308651_10100252337300992_17106738_46074335_940414116_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>The O'so lovely medicine cabinet that was removed. It currently is living on our porch if anyone is dying to get this piece of tin back up on the wall. Yeah tin, its not wood or original that I know of.<br />
<br />
Ready for the updates?<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
No really??<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Can you handle the lovely modern twist I'm about to lay out for you?!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">New tile, paint, mirror, lights, molding, and re purposed book case.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Shower on the left and the new mirror on the right.</div><br />
<br />

We found it at the Habitat for Humanity restore for about 30 less then the store it came from. Every time I work on it I'll make an entry and tell a little about life. I figured for this labor of love there needs to be a story to go with it. Not all my quilts will have this kind of work. So I need to make it worth my while.<br />
<br />
I finally got all the patterns copied (I think) but I have only traced templates for the A and B rows that I had before 4 pm. I did manage to get to blocks started/finished today. A simple 9 patch that I made with Moda bliss and then a window pane looking block that is still missing its applique diamonds. The window block was made with a light blue from Brothers quilt made last year. <br />
<br />
I plan to use as many scraps as possible in this quilt to give it a variety, but at the same time I have to use the scraps in bottle rainbow. I don't want to cut up something for one quilt and not be able to use it in another. I know there will always be more fabric but its nice if I don't have to keep buying large pieces just for little squares. Remember... the Dear Jane finishes at 4 inches square. The pieces aren't big the largest so far has been just bigger then 2 inches square.CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-24410247014857232342011-09-20T21:57:00.001-05:002011-09-20T21:59:34.124-05:00Dear JaneI went to a local quilt meeting on Monday. This group of women have been working on a <a href="http://www.dearjane.com/">Dear Jane</a> quilt for two years. Some longer then others. they welcomed me into their arms yesterday and I sewed my first block by hand!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/308585_10100230331400992_17106738_45931420_249588701_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/308585_10100230331400992_17106738_45931420_249588701_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Why by hand you ask? Because each block only finishes at about 4 inches square. Notice the quarter in the picture. Its small. This took me about an hour to make from start to finish. I even had to go at a snail pace because someone had to teach me to trace, cut, and sew. Can't say I have ever worked with such pieces. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After doing this oh... 225 or so times I'll get something along the lines of... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.dearjane.com/images/thequilt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.dearjane.com/images/thequilt.jpg" width="319" /></a></div>But if you have seen or met me you'll probably know a bunch of traditional prints aren't my style. I thought I would mix it up a bit!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/312650_10100230331490812_17106738_45931423_633253301_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/312650_10100230331490812_17106738_45931423_633253301_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>So I was prepared to do a white and shades of purple toned quilt. I thought this would be great and very out of my normal color range.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://store.stitchinheaven.com/stores_app/images/images_203/BlueDearJaneTN.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://store.stitchinheaven.com/stores_app/images/images_203/BlueDearJaneTN.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I figured it would look similar to this image (went looking for it after my idea!) BUT I found something else. Something so much cooler then a mono tone (at least what I think right now)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_r0XEzveqwKQ/SYDQ4r0x9jI/AAAAAAAAANs/HU1Mm3VQ4Hs/rbjane_MED%5B7%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_r0XEzveqwKQ/SYDQ4r0x9jI/AAAAAAAAANs/HU1Mm3VQ4Hs/rbjane_MED%5B7%5D.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Meet Rainbow Jane!</div><br />
I know right? Don't you instantly fall in love with her? I did I did so much that I came up with this. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/316589_10100230331615562_17106738_45931424_573402440_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/316589_10100230331615562_17106738_45931424_573402440_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Its my word chart on how to lay out the DJ blocks by color. I already have all the patterns copied now I just have to trace the templates and cut out the pieces and I'll be ready to sew. HA! Simple right?<br />
<br />
If you cant read it or dont' care to count its 13 blocks square and then it has the triangle boarder. I haven't decided if I want to do the boarder. It makes it 84inch square if I do. Which barely covers a twin length wise I think. Such a shame because this will be beautiful if I can fallow through with it! <br />
<br />
While googling imagines I also found this number... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSmsih0fxCKRBCxmBSq6zhR_cRI9mO70C5Kxsi30e4UOLHQUOV1bA" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSmsih0fxCKRBCxmBSq6zhR_cRI9mO70C5Kxsi30e4UOLHQUOV1bA" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Now... black or white???</div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div>CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-81277306608201633302011-09-19T10:46:00.000-05:002011-09-19T10:46:08.867-05:00DirectionsIf the last post was about being "Lost" this one is all about getting directions.<br />
<br />
After a few days of emotional unloading on Hubbs (poor guy!) we decided on a plan. <br />
<br />
I am furiously working on getting my clearances and what not updated (missed it by a few months) to get to substitute teach. Depending how the next few weeks and semester goes we'll talk about me going back to school. In this waiting period we will also discuss what to go to school for!<br />
<br />
I have consider picking up Elem ed which would take me two years. So then I could teach K-8 then 8-12 social studies. Seems to open up a lot right? Well probably not. Plenty of ladies and gents can teach k-8 so no big deal. So then Maybe I should get my masters! Library science? Sure! then I can do a few Library things and maybe work outside of a school. Still, a pretty pigeon holed kind of education. So we'll venture out and look at other degrees. I would prefer to build on the one I have and not start from scratch... but maybe that is direction I need to go! So that's the plan, or direction I am headed in!CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-47441658875061725242011-09-13T09:43:00.000-05:002011-09-13T09:43:31.400-05:00Lost So I am here, but I am lost.<br />
<br />
There a few things I still can not find in the new house, they are lost. However, I am sure if I finished un packing boxes and put things away these mystical items would become found again. But where to find the motivation? It too, has escaped me. Probably hiding in a box, or under a box, or in the pile of clothes all over the house. I do have good intentions. I just need to get my Internet and sewing out of the way. Yesterday it was gardening. oops.<br />
<br />
Sadly I too feel lost. I haven't felt this way for some time. When I was teaching 3 years ago many nights would I come home and cry or wonder why teaching wasn't easy and wonder why it didn't work out like I thought it would. I didn't even make it through the year before we got transferred. With relocation 1 I spent two years in retail. I kept explaining it away with "Its just temporary" even though 2 years doesn't' really scream "short term" when I have only had 3 years of full time work.<br />
Relocation 2 brought on countless job applications and landed me at the same retail job in the new town. I have worked a mere handful of shifts and I am lost. Their store is so completely different then where I came from. I realize the people I left were not originally people I knew but I had to walk away from friends. Theses were people that I know so much about and people that I had come to look forward to seeing (even if for only a small small moment). But I KNEW them. I didn't need someone to explain who the two cashiers were, or who my boss was for the shift and then point them out. I am lost in this new store and I am expected to be a large working part of it.<br />
<br />
But that is just part of my insanity. I spent 5 years in school so that I could return to the classroom. But now, working on year 4 of full time work I am on year 3 of retail. This wouldn't be so bad if I liked business or was still in school (like most of my counter parts) but I'm not. I am full time lower management retail. And I hate it. I have no idea why my path has taken this route. I have no idea how to get back into the classroom. I look back and think about all the crying, doubt, and grading and I know I would take that in a heart beat over "do you have any coupons or need a gift receipt?" My life is easy right now. I have to leave my work at work. I don't bring anything home. My time here is completely for me and family. But I feel lost. I don't think this is where I am suppose to be. I hope retail is not where I am suppose to be!<br />
<br />
So I am lost. Lost in my house, lost at work, and lost in life right now. I am not "unhappy" just confused on what to do next.CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-13122199775783900232011-08-22T21:07:00.001-05:002011-08-22T21:08:16.836-05:00The New HouseAlright, tomorrow I we take ownership of our 3rd house! GEEZ. Might I remind you that I am not even at my 3rd wedding anniversary!? Hubbs mentioned this shows indecision. I think we just move too much! Just to be clear, we have bought all these houses thinking we would be in them longer then 9 months or 2 years. <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Today we got to walk through. I forgot my camera and was able to grab a few snap shot with out the realtor thinking I was too crazy. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">This is your back yard. I am currently standing next to our one car garage/shed at the back of the property that you can reach from an ally. The shap under the tree on the left is our pergola. It is about the size of a parking pad and I'm not sure it wasn't at one point. It has seating on the right side and a large planter on the left. It also has electricity already ran. PARTY! Looking the house you can see the three season room on the left (with all the windows) that use to be a porch. We are going to turn it into a mud room for now, safe for dogs. The bottom window on the right would look into our breakfast nook that is off of the kitchen. The top window is looking into the masterbedroom. Behind the start is our wall-O-closets in the master bath, pictures to come. The attic is large enough to do something with, but we aren't sure what yet. </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/300200_10100206765437372_17106738_45693094_6220791_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266px" qaa="true" src="http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/300200_10100206765437372_17106738_45693094_6220791_n.jpg" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">This is the back yard standing beside the house looking back. The previous picture was taken next to the tiny evergreen by the garage. You can see the pergola better at this angle. We also have a flag pole. This yard is a huge change from the 1/2 acre we currently have. The stairs on the right lead into the 3 season room</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/304509_10100206765382482_17106738_45693092_4802885_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265px" qaa="true" src="http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/304509_10100206765382482_17106738_45693092_4802885_n.jpg" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">This is the front living room. The craftsman touchs of wood every where is so nice. The stairs aren't quite in front of the door like this picture makes it look. I am standing in the dining room to take this picture. The kichen door would be on the right wall where the stairs turn into the second floor. This room is floor to ceiling wall paper and will be painted before the furniture gets moved in!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/304742_10100206760741782_17106738_45693051_4242762_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266px" qaa="true" src="http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/304742_10100206760741782_17106738_45693051_4242762_n.jpg" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is the dinning room. It was so much bigger then I imagined! Our current little table will go in the breakfast nook instead of here... this might be my sewing room for a while. It too is floor to ceiling wall paper. It too will be going. Not sure if it will be the same color as the living room or not. The double door goes out to the 3 season room. The door out is further to the right and not in the picture to go out side. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is the upstairs hallway from the top of the stairs. Counter clockwise starting bottom left. Red bathroom, Master, hall closet (dark door), bedroom 2, then bedroom 3. Bedroom 3 has a staircase going up to the attic. We haven't figured out what we would do about this room if we convert the attic to a usuable space.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/293390_10100206760881502_17106738_45693053_6200189_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400px" qaa="true" src="http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/293390_10100206760881502_17106738_45693053_6200189_n.jpg" width="266px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That is all for now. I'll add more in the next few days. So far I'm only working with my cell phone so the pictures are hit or miss. The bathrooms are a mess! I'm missing pictures of the kitchen and basement. Can't wait to get started tomorrow!</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I need some art work for the new house. Actually I need art work for this house too, but that would be pointless now wouldn't it? Now, I must have seen this before because with enough google I was able to find it. I would have to create my own version since I don't really like anything out there. But, I have dabbled in oil pastel large and small and I think I could make this happen.<br />
<br />
First...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.arttoheartweb.com/images/Van_Gogh_Starry_Night.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="http://www.arttoheartweb.com/images/Van_Gogh_Starry_Night.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Starry Night and turning it into...<br />
<br />
wait for it....<br />
<br />
can you handle this nerdiness....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://data.whicdn.com/images/5555272/tumblr_ldf7p0AopU1qaj9exo1_500_thumb.jpg?1292464547" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://data.whicdn.com/images/5555272/tumblr_ldf7p0AopU1qaj9exo1_500_thumb.jpg?1292464547" /></a></div>Oh yeah, that's Hogwarts. Yes as in Harry Potter. Now, my version wouldn't include the death eater call in the corner but I love the idea of "replicating it".<br />
<br />
Pushing the idea further I came up with a few more ideas. First let me mention I am a HUGE fan of van Gogh. So this isn't 100% crazy.<br />

Alright, I think you get the picture. Hopefully I'll actually do this. I think it would be really neat to have "original" art work that might be recognizable. I would love to say I could branch out to other favorite stories or artist, but honestly I think I could only reproduce "large colored strokes" and not much else.This could be horrible! I'll keep you updated<br />

Like I said before, I am out of fabric and ideas, now I have fabric again. Also, with a few 40% coupons I grabbed some white and navy Kona at Joann's. Now I am trying to figure out what I need to do with all this fab red white and blue!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS2ntFIbBdqG69NzCfKsFY8qS6cwtWtyXh67uu_Tow8TeE2uSaN9Q" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS2ntFIbBdqG69NzCfKsFY8qS6cwtWtyXh67uu_Tow8TeE2uSaN9Q" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">A variation of this? I only have solid navy right now but I could make it work.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT03XI2QIuJV6ig25uTnW67EEzBOz-nfTinINOfO5iUYg8wDdyW" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT03XI2QIuJV6ig25uTnW67EEzBOz-nfTinINOfO5iUYg8wDdyW" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">A great flag. I could collect a few more blues to round out the scrappy look.</div><br />
So any other ideas? What would you do with all this red and white?CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-85727283016333552302011-07-21T16:21:00.000-05:002011-07-21T16:21:37.416-05:00Bee blocksPictures! Its a miracle! Ha... spoke too soon! Can't get my camera to work with the computer.... but none the less<br />
I have run out of fabric to make quilts... OK well not completely true. I have run out of ideas for the fabric I have. That is more accurate. So I have turned to my Bee Blocks. So far I only have 2 whole rounds back... which actually shows me that I am still missing a block or too because I only have 9 for each bee when I should have at least 0 if not 11. But whatever. This is all I'm getting so I'm committed to work on it.<br />
I was originally inspired by a quilt that was hanging in a back ground of a workspace I was admiring in a book. The book "Organize your Craft Space" featured Freddy Moran as the artist to represent quilting. Here is a picture where you can see a finished quilt on her design wall and one of her desks. (This isn't a picture from my book, but it is her space)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://bemused.typepad.com/bemused/images/000_3975.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://bemused.typepad.com/bemused/images/000_3975.jpg" /></a></div><br />
You can tell from these two photos and many more if you google them that her style is bright and funky.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1eZVu6xupDzFfb02zupbZrSviliGryC_7YHRoa79UtI0qIYGtrCbt2NQoNRfpMdyK46Vte8V3zgjoLwj5CJSW6tJVA5_9YCMP0OI83yFr_qfPjKxSX3xpvB-5jXOZR79cn1SjsZ1hEo1S/s1600/gwen-marston-freddy-moran.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1eZVu6xupDzFfb02zupbZrSviliGryC_7YHRoa79UtI0qIYGtrCbt2NQoNRfpMdyK46Vte8V3zgjoLwj5CJSW6tJVA5_9YCMP0OI83yFr_qfPjKxSX3xpvB-5jXOZR79cn1SjsZ1hEo1S/s1600/gwen-marston-freddy-moran.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">When I first started working with the bees I figured they would lend them selves wonderfully to piece just like this. Color and creativity wouldnt' be a problem here and a less then square block would never be noticed in this chaos of color.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">But that was over a year go. Not that my taste has changed too much, but this quilt just looks so BUSY to me. Granted it is fun and festive... I just don't have a place or a need for a fun and festive quilt this time in my life.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I laid all my tree blocks from a solid bee and house blocks from PB&J and ended up with a 4 ft by 5 ft quilt. This produces a dominate blue (sky) quilt with warm houses and cool trees dotting the landscape. I had full intentions of adding black and white flying geese as shashing through the entire quilt, but after laying some black and white stripes behind it became the busy Freddy look, but it wasn't a nice as I was wanting. The original was simple and pleasing. If my camera was working I would gladly you show you my trial and error looks but I'll just have to settle for type. For now I'll just square of the blocks (since many came entirely too large) and sew them together. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Along with too little fabric I don't have any batting left. 5 bags of filling for pillows? Yes, more then a few strips of batting... no. Also I'm on a spending spree. All three of the animals have seen the vet this month and two are due for booster shots in a week. So no money, must find fabric in stash to sew together...</div>CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-2455311790604255342011-07-20T15:40:00.000-05:002011-07-20T15:40:12.197-05:00Bad bloggerSo I never take photos and the ones I do take are on my phone not my camera. Point? I got the fuzzy blanket put all together with the exception of hand stitching the binding down, but since it had no real purpose it can wait until I have someone to sit on the couch with and ignore video games.<br />
<br />
I started the bottled rainbow. I was right about the huge part... and they blocks are measuring something like 27 by 30. Next to my little 12.5x12.5 ruler it looks gigantic. In fact I think two of them would make a baby quilt with out any question! Which actually got me thinking... that it would be really cool to do a ticker tape baby quilt. I dont' think it would be too hard to find a rainbow fabric and just do the middle all crazy like... or a little order to the chaos. Just a thought!CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668274707018201146.post-57607109794970497112011-07-17T23:34:00.000-05:002011-07-17T23:34:17.650-05:002 for 1I have started 2 quilts in 1 day!<br />
<br />
I found this great jelly roll pattern that I decided to go ahead and work with. I had a jelly roll that I had bought in Cali last summer. I had just started quilting and had to have a jelly roll by moda. After getting home and looking at it better I didn't like but maybe 3 fabrics so it has been on hold until now. I don't have any pictures since I am only half finished. Its a quilt as you go rag style pattern. I however ran out of fabric. I could totally go with what I have now, but it would only be about baby size and these aren't really baby colors. I'll get two more neutrals tomorrow and finish the quilt.<br />
<br />
Since I am on a sewing cutting spree I went ahead and started cutting for my bottle rainbows! I am VERY excited to finally get to work on this. I have been putting it off and off or no real good reason... but now I know I have the time and energy to make this work! A while back I needed some white for some block or other... so I cut out all of my center blocks for this quilt and then cut up the white for the block. Also, maybe even the same block, needed some oranges and aquas, so I cut out some strips for the borders and then used extra.... let me quote the pattern for a minute... <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><em>"Each rectangle block finishes at 16 x 20", including a 2.5" sashing in solid Kona cotton. For the center of each block, you'll want a nice neutral such as white, cream or natural linen. Finished quilt will measure 64 x 80" - a very generous blanket (or add a 5" border to make it a twin sized quilt!).</em> "</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">So what did I do? Oh, I cut my center block 16 x 20 so my starting piece is that large not the whole block after sashing. Ok well that's fine whatever... Sashing 2.5... hum, well that kind of makes since.... so I cut mine at 6 inches. Yeah.... tad bigger. Didn't realize it at the time. I knew I had about twice as much fabric as I needed so I thought "Hey, I'll sash with 6 since I think you are supposed to sash with 4" so no big worry right? Good thing this is quilt as you go... this might turn out to be like a king size quilt! Exciting... but HUGE!! By blocks are going to be about 27 x 32. So it looks like my finished size will be around 104 x 128. hehe like I said... H U G E</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Tomorrow I will take pictures, get fabric if the store is open (fingers crossed) and start sorting my scraps for the "bottled" part of my blocks.</div>CRNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517246898786683956noreply@blogger.com0
